Woodstock Transition is an initiative of the global Transition Town Movement of communities that are coming together to reimagine and rebuild our world, in the face of the big challenges of our time, such as climate change, economic uncertainty, and environmental destruction. We engage locally to strengthen our community’s resilience, create positive alternatives, and in the process become more equitable, socially connected, and fulfilled.

Woodstock’s Repair Café is organized by members of Woodstock Transition. Our first café took place in September of 2017. Thanks to the generous support of St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church, we have a great space to offer Repair Cafés in Woodstock four times a year, in January, April, July, and October.

Bring your beloved but broken item to this free community gathering, to be fixed for free - together. Volunteer repair coaches will work on your item while you stay to watch, sometimes assist, and ideally to learn. Our coaches include people who repair jewelry, mechanical and electrical items, electronics and digital devices, clothing and textiles, and things made of wood. We also have knife and tool sharpening. And watch our calendar page for special offerings at each event.

Of course, we cannot guarantee that the item you bring will be repaired, but we can promise that you will have an interesting time.

While you wait your turn, or after your repair is completed, chat with your neighbors and enjoy a cup of free coffee or tea. Baked goods and fruit are available for a donation. Volunteers and people whose items are repaired (or not), are uplifted by the warm community spirit of our Repair Café.

Please note: There is a limit of 2 items per person, and items for repair may not be dropped off. Repairs are free except for a charge, at our cost, for lamp replacements parts. Donations are always gratefully accepted to help us meet expenses.

Volunteers Welcome!

Repair Cafés depend on a healthy roster of “repair coaches” who have fix-it skills and like to share their expertise. Whether you are a professional, retired, a home handyperson, or hobbyist, if you enjoy working with people and donating your time once or several times a year, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us at or (845) 679-4862.
