On Saturday, June 1st, 2024, the Claverack Library in Columbia County will hold its first repair cafe at the Claverack Free Library.
What is a repair Café? A repair café is pop up repair event where volunteer repair coaches fix their neighbors broken but beloved items—for free! The first Repair Café was organized in Amsterdam in 2009 and was brought to the Hudson Valley area by volunteer organizer John Wackman in 2013. His dedication and enthusiasm for repair cafes launched a ‘repair revolution’ in our area; he founded Repair Cafe Hudson Valley, a consortium of free repair cafes that now numbers over 60 cafes in the Hudson Valley, Catskills and Capital Region.
