mamakating

The Mamakating Repair Cafe grew out of an initiative by the Sullivan County Human Rights Commission called Dialogue to Change, conversations about the causes of poverty. The Dialogue group at the library formed a committee to initiate a Repair Cafe. We held our first event in July 2017.

Mamakating is located at the eastern edge of Sullivan County. It includes the villages of Wurstboro and Bloomingburg, which are joined by the Shawangunk Mountains ridge. Hikers enjoy the 5 trails that converge in Wurtsboro, traversing the ridgeline, the D&H Canal Towpath and the O&W Rail Trail. History and natural ecology merge in the beautiful Basha Kill Wildlife Management Area.

The Mamakating Repair Cafe is indebted to the many volunteer repairers and organizers that make a repair cafe happen.

When the weather allows. the Mamakating Repair Cafe is held outdoors in the parking lot behind the library.
