Beacon's Repair Cafe is organized by a great group of folks from Beacon and surrounding towns. The first Beacon Repair Cafe took place on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend in 2016.
You will find experts who are also your neighbors in these repair categories: Mechnical, electrical and electronic. Clothing and textiles. Jewelry. The Department of Stuffed Friends. Things Made of Wood.
We love our location:
The beautiful Howland Cultural Center at 477 Main Street.
The building opened in 1872 as the Beacon Circulating Library, and remained a library until 1976, when a larger building was needed to serve the community. In 1940, a Federal Writers' Project guidebook described it as “in the Norwegian chalet style.”It was one of the last libraries to use natural light in its main reading room--as you will see when you come to a Repair Cafe and the appreciate how the light streams down from the high windows. The Howland Cultural Center building was listed on the National Register of Historic places in 1976.
