Bethlehem

Bethlehem Repair Cafe is hosted by the Bethlehem Environmental Commons (BeECO) and Town of Bethlehem.

Repair Café is a worldwide/neighborhood initiative that promotes repair as an alternative to tossing out items that care for us. At a Repair Café, anyone can bring their broken but cherished items to be fixed on the spot, for FREE, with the help of volunteer repair coaches.

We have coaches available to help you fix your lamps, small appliances, computers, jewelry, or sew/hem your favorite item of clothes, beloved stuffed animal, or just about anything else. Some dangerous items or items containing hazardous materials will not be allowed for repair. Contact the email below if you are unsure if your repair would be considered allowable.

Also, some repairs that are typically offered as paid services will not be provided. Some examples would be clothing alterations or watch battery replacements. This is because the goal of the repair café is to prevent waste and build community engagement; not to interfere with local businesses and their potential revenue. Feel free to reach out if you are curious if your repair falls into this category.

Our previous event was very popular and we needed to turn away community members looking for repairs. This means we are eager for more volunteers. We are looking for repair coaches, coaches with tool sharpening skills, ushers for directing waiting participants to repair coaches, and check in area coordinators.

For more information or if you are interested in participating as a volunteer, please email Christopher Grzymala by emailing bethlehemrepaircafe@gmail.com.

Repairing is caring!
