Have something broken but too good to throw away? Bring it to the White Plains Repair Cafe!

The White Plains Repair Cafe is a free, volunteer-run, community event where residents can bring their broken or well-loved items and work alongside skilled “fixers” to repair them. From small appliances and electronics to clothing, jewelry, and household items, our goal is simple: fix more, waste less, and learn together.

Sponsored by the White Plains Sustainability Committee and hosted at the White Plains Public Library, this cafe is part of a growing global movement that promotes repair as an alternative to throwing things away and helping keep usable items out of landfills while building practical skills and community connections. Most repairs are free, though sometimes the fixer will ask for a small fee to cover the cost of a part.

This is not a drop-off service; participants sit with volunteer repair coaches, learn how things work, and often take part in the repair process. Even when something can’t be fixed, you’ll leave with new knowledge, helpful advice, and the satisfaction of giving it a try.

Join us to meet your neighbors, share skills, and be part of a more sustainable, resourceful community.
